Beta Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Faber processes personal data during the beta, on both of its surfaces - Fab 2D, which balloons a drawing, and Fab 3D, which builds CAD. It is part of the conditions for accessing the service.

Data and purposes

We process your sign-in email address, your name and the account identifier your identity provider gives us, your account information, what each run cost and what is left of your credit balance, the files you upload and everything produced from them - a ballooned sheet and an inspection workbook on Fab 2D, geometry, drawings and images on Fab 3D - in order to provide, secure and support the service. We also record which version of our terms and of this notice you accepted, a digest of the exact text you were shown, and when.

A sign-in lasts 90 days and is held as a session token on the device you signed in from; signing out deletes it. A project is retained while you use it and purged 90 days after it was last opened — one rule, on Fab 2D and on Fab 3D alike. You may delete a project, and everything produced from it, at any time, and while a project is on the service you can download what you dropped and what came back whenever you want. Account records are retained while you use the service. A longer period may apply where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not use your files to train models, ours or anyone else's.

Recipients

Your files and what is produced from them are stored in Microsoft Azure, France Central. The part of a file the model must see is sent to Google, whose Gemini models produce the result, reached through Faber's own proxy; on Fab 3D it is sent to OpenAI instead, if and only if you have connected your own ChatGPT plan so that the agent runs on it. Each processes that data as our model provider, under its own terms.

A record of every run is kept so that we can see what the product actually did and correct it where it got something wrong. That record is written to storage Faber itself operates, on Microsoft Azure, and it is not sent to an analytics provider. On the hosted service the record is a full one: the text and figures read from your file, images of the parts of a page the reader looked at, kept at the resolution the model saw and never re-encoded smaller, and the steps the run took. Outside it — on a desktop installation — Fab 3D records nothing at all, and Fab 2D reduces the record to measurements: a fixed list of fields, such as how long a run took, how many pages it read, which model answered and whether it succeeded, with a digest in place of any value that would otherwise identify a file or a person. Faber does not sell files or share them for advertising or prospecting.
